G. Campbell Morgan was born in 1890 in Aberdeen, England. His parents were both Baptist ministers, and his father was also a preacher of the Methodist Church. Morgan spent much of his youth in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he attended the University College School. After graduation from the University College School in 1912, he studied divinity at Durham Union Theological College. He then studied for two years at Andover Theological Seminary before entering the United States to study at Princeton University Divinity School (1914-1915). In 1922 he became pastor of Flushing Presbyterian Church in New York City. From 1923 until 1929 he served as pastor of Grace Episcopal Church in Manhattan and during this time published several books on biblical subjects including Religious Education in World History.
