A Translation of the Four Gospels from the Syriac of the Sinaitic Palimpsest

The Sinaitic Palimpsest is most famous for its second, Syriac layer. This layer contains four Gospels which are thought to be the oldest extant texts of the Syriac New Testament. One of these Gospels, The Gospel of Luke, has remained anonymous until now. Amidst the many difficulties associated with this manuscript, one can discern that this is a translation into Syriac from the original Greek text. This discovery has shed new light on hidden connections between Eastern and Western Christianity and offers an important glimpse into the early development of Christian literature in languages other than Latin. This rare book is considered to be one of the most important translations of biblical texts in terms of scholarship and historical value.
