A family tragedy in three acts, this classic play by Frank Wedekind is a fascinating look at the psychological effects, often called the most important work of modern drama. The main character is burdened with an overwhelming feeling of guilt and fear after she opens her box that releases all the world's problems into the world. Wedekind includes dramatic scenes of sex and violence, but also humorous sketches that make reference to events in European history. Before the publication of his controversial play, "Pandora's Box," Frank Wedekind wrote a preface for it in which he defined the essence of tragedy: "the dissolution of personality," and the struggle between instinct and reason.
