Lao-Tze's Tao-Teh-King: Chinese-English. With Introduction, Transliteration and Notes
Lao-Tze was one of the great sages of ancient China. He set forth his philosophy in the Tao-Teh-King, or The Book of the Way, which is one of the most important books in the history of thought. This is a practical and popular work in the field of philosophy which has been translated in various forms and edited by many hands; but no one, so far as we know, has a “ Philosophical Appendix.” This Appendix is the object of the present book. The translator has added to the text such interpretations and explanations as he may consider necessary to make it comprehensible not only for educated English readers but also for students of philosophy who are familiar with the original Chinese language. He presents Lao-Tze's thoughts in a way that will be comprehensible to our modern minds.
