Romeo and Juliet: parallel texts of the first two quartos, (Q1) 1597-Q2, 1599

This is a collection of four parallel texts from the first two quartos, whose content is based upon Shakespeare's source material. The subjects are the love triangle between Juliet, Romeo and Capulet, and Montague. In addition to the main text of each play, there is an additional story on this topic that is not part of the main text of the play being discussed. These stories were used by Shakespeare for various purposes including historical background and expansion of characters. This edition is an abridged version of that edition, with the first two quartos being largely excluded. On the other hand, the third and fourth quartos are included for completeness.
