Sohrab and Rustum

A tale of two brothers, Sohrab and Rustum, bound by an unbreakable oath. Betrayed by their father, both brothers are lost in the wilderness of life. But when they meet again, their destinies become intertwined once more. The story vividly reflects the beauty and pain of human life and the moral dilemmas we face in our daily lives. The poem deals with the self-defeating effects of human conflict and war. An encounter is a man who laments that history eventually comes to nothing but "a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." He claims that war is merely a game in which one side seeks to "win an empty victory," while the other engages in a fight so futile that it can only end in "a new defeat." The poem concludes with references to Armageddon and Trojan War.
