Twelfth Night - or, What You Will

Far away, from strangers' eyes, from crowds of people and servants, there are born very confused feelings and affection for mistaken personalities. Even though John Philip Kemble was born in a family of actors, he chose the path of being actor himself. Years later he was able to gain a high reputation as a professional actor. On 30 September 1783, he made his first appearance on the stage of the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, as Hamlet. This was the very role that prompted him the huge attention of critics and theatre admirers. Kemble played a large number of roles, among which were characters from Shakespeare's plays.
