Léopold Mabilleau was a journalist, novelist, and dramatist. He was born in 1876 and died in 1912. He wrote novels, plays, novels, essays, articles, and even acted as an editor for "La Vie Parisienne" from 1901 to 1905. Born into a middle-class family just before the 1880s began Léopold Mabilleau soon become interested in the arts. His first published work was an article about Gustave Flaubert's Madame Bovary in 1895 at the age of nineteen. Shortly afterwards he became friends with François Mauriac who encouraged him to pursue his literary ambitions. He was first introduced to Victor Hugo's work by his mother who read him "Les Misérables" when he was just 9 years old.
