Pestalozzi: His Aim and Work

In the eighteenth century, Swiss educator Pestalozzi became the poster child for the poor, forgotten children of Europe. In one of his most influential texts, His Aim and Work, he expressed a philosophy of education that emphasized the individual's innate ability to learn and grow. A biography of Pestalozzi written by French historian Roger de Guimps in English translation, this is the first-ever book on Pestalozzi to be published in English. The aim of this book is to present Pestalozzi's views on education and his experiences as a teacher in Switzerland, where he had introduced the systematic teaching of reading and writing.
