Bernays is included in the list of the 100 most influential Americans of the 20th century. His best-known campaigns include a 1929 effort to promote female smoking by branding cigarettes as feminist 'Torches of Freedom,' and his work for the United Fruit Company The director Larry Tye chose Bernays' biography as the subject of his full-length film The Father of Spin. Later Adam Curtis screened for the BBC a famous documentary about Bernays.
