All in a Garden Fair: A Simple Story of Three Boys and a Girl

Walter Besant was an English writer, primarily of novels and short stories. He is best known for long-running Victorian novel The Children of the New Forest (1898) and his historical novels All in a Garden Fair (1887); The Inner House; East Lynne, which had the largest circulation of any book published in 19th century England; and Ready-Money Mortiboy. All in a Garden Fair is Walter Besant's most popular children's story. It tells the story of three boys who find an enchanted garden and of the girl who, in their search for pleasure, find happiness. In the turn-of-the-century gardens of England's countryside, three boys and a girl come to understand that there are many pleasures in life and that happiness is found in the simplest of things. The book is basically a simple story of old-fashioned life in the country.
