Charles Fletcher Lummis (1859-1928) was a journalist, archaeologist, linguist, historian, ethnologist, conservationist, and traveler. He founded the Southwest Museum in Los Angeles and its affiliated Indian Arts and Crafts Society of America to preserve traditional arts and crafts of Native Americans. His work helped shape both mainstream and alternative views of American Indians.
