In Our Kingdom (Vort Ridge) Book I-III, the story of the Worst is told. The Vorts are a race that has been living on earth for centuries, but only recently are they coming out of hiding to reveal themselves to those around them. Their world has changed and now they must begin to adapt, to. The introduction tells of their history, how they were forced into hiding for centuries. There was a time when they didn't hide either and their civilization flourished before other humans discovered them and started subjugating them. It's been fifty years since the first Word came out and talks about their rejection of technology that took away their freedom.
