Thomas Brooke was an English antiquarian, born in 1702. He collected coins, medals, and genealogical manuscripts. He died in 1793. This is the first volume of a two-volume work on the Chartulary of Cockersand Abbey of the Premonstratensian Order. Vol. I. Part II; pp. 161-335 is a transcription of what was written by Thomas Brooke himself. in 1801 for his own use only, with corrections and additions inserted in his hand by him at intervals up to 1827, with occasional marginal notes by him or his son Francis Brooke after that date pp 161-191 are drawn from the Chartulary of Cockersand Abbey. This edition is an exact reproduction of a book published in 1894 and includes illustrations and index.
