The Turba Philosophorum, or Assembly of Sagas; Called Also the Book of Truth in the Art and the Third Pythagorical Synod

This early work of alchemy is a compilation of the "Sagas" or "Sayings" of the Masters, which portray their deepest secrets in what may be thought of as a third Pythagorical Synod. The Turba Philosophorum includes the most important texts on alchemy, and is credited with contributing to the immense popularity of alchemical texts during the late Middle Ages. It presents a series of allegorical dialogues describing the nature and purpose of alchemy. Waite's work includes an introduction and commentary on the Turba Philosophorum and is illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith. The book also contains original material by its translator, A. E. Waite, who was responsible for adding some additional chapters to this text.
